An Introduction from Greenway Lab's founder:

Greenway Labs is a new concept. Traditionally, research and development organizations have started by first visualizing a concept, followed by finding lots of money, then hiring staff, building physical "bricks and mortar" facilities, and only then finally getting down to do the work. Greenway has plans to do this, but the creation of the Internet has provided a way to start Greenway and its research immediately.
If you have Internet access, you can join Greenway and start building for the future today. This "virtual" laboratory exists in the hearts and minds of like-minded people who care deeply about our planet, and each other.
The technology which drives Greenway's virtual lab is not only very powerful, but free to anyone to use. We at Greenway are the recipients of the excellent work done by others who have preceded us and shared the fruits of their labor. This concept of "giving freely" is a fundamental cornerstone of Greenway labs.
There is a great deal of fundamental research that should, and must be done first if key concepts for the future are to become viable realities. You do not need big buildings and big budgets to operate in the "virtual mode". Creating a virtual laboratory provides a highly flexible and cost-efficient way to do fundamental research on a global scale from the very start.
But the main goal of Greenway Labs is to get "beyond the paper" and put the new and emerging concepts and ideas into practice. It will take time to build the "physical" part of Greenway labs, but this "half" is on its way to becoming a reality.
So Greenway Labs will always have two parts: "virtual" which has come first, and "physical" which will come later.
Within Greenway there are both "public" and "private" projects. Public projects, labeled "PUP", are designed to capitalize on the tremendous success of the "open Source" concept and their communities. Greenway is applying this free and easy global interchange of ideas, talent and results to a new venue: energy. There will never be any charge for information provided by Greenway's public projects, and participants understand that they have no financial or legal claim to the combined intellectual property created by them.
Greenway's private projects (PRP) are intended to create new and emerging energy technology solutions that can be licensed and sold. Greenway Labs is a not-for-profit organization, but obviously will need a continuing revenue stream to operate. Project funding and grants come and go, but licensing has the potential to provide long-term financial security and stability.
Anyone can propose a project, public or private. All Greenway projects progress through the five phases shown below.
- Proposed
- Accepted
- Funded
- Work In Process
- Completed
Several projects have already been proposed and accepted. Others have been funded and are underway. Click here to see the current listing of Gateway labs projects.
Anyone can contribute to a Greenway public project, and you are encouraged to do so, regardless of your age or educational credentials. While participation by those blessed with advanced formal education is greatly appreciated, remember that Thomas Edison was home-schooled and never gained a degree. You must become an accredited Greenway Associate to participate in private projects.
No one knows where Greenway Labs will go, or what it will accomplish. But we live on a really great planet, and collectively we can do much more to become better stewards of the world in which we live. I look forward to joining with you as we go forward, and meeting each one you in the near future.
God bless,
Mark Fowler
